Key findings from the 2019 GETI report: Nuclear

As mentioned, GETI 2019 features key data, information and insights from the nuclear sector that could prove to be essential to reforming your wider nuclear power plant recruitment strategy for the better. Key findings include:

• Nearly a third of professionals in the sector are aged 55 and above, compared to just 20% in the oil and gas sector.
• 52% of non-hiring professionals said that remuneration increased over the past year, showing salaries continue to grow in the sector.
• 18% said they saw their pay rise by more than 5% while 9% said they saw a decrease in renumeration.
• Nearly 80% in Africa and the Middle East predicted their pay will rise over the next year.
• 83% of workers in the nuclear sector said they would consider relocating to another region for their job. 28% said the main reason was career progression opportunities.
• 37% believe that a talent crisis has already hit the nuclear sector, with 16% very worried about a talent crisis.
• Engineering talent is the discipline most affected by talent shortages at 66%. The skillset most affected, at 30%, is problem-solving.
• 83% of 18-24-year-olds entering the nuclear sector now would like to pursue a career in the industry.
• 59% and 58% of male and female respondents respectively believe the best way nuclear companies can get those skills is by retraining existing employees.
